Bears Beat Seahawks 34–17: Chicago Moves to 6–2 as NFC North Race Tightens

By Marketing Media TV | November 3, 2026 | All times Central

The Chicago Bears left Seattle with a 34–17 Monday Night Football victory, a 6–2 record and growing momentum in a crowded NFC North race. Their third straight win delivered an encouraging answer to a familiar question: how would this team respond when a comfortable lead suddenly became a one-score game?

At Lumen Field on November 2, Chicago answered by finishing the job. Now the focus shifts to another prime-time appearance, this time at Soldier Field against Tampa Bay.

What happened Monday night?

Chicago led 20–9 before Seattle pulled within 20–17 in the fourth quarter. The Bears then scored the final 14 points. A 39-yard reception by Kalif Raymond helped set up a touchdown, and James Lynch’s interception following an Austin Booker deflection created another short scoring opportunity.

Caleb Williams completed 24 of 34 passes for 247 yards, one touchdown and a 101.0 passer rating. D’Andre Swift scored three rushing touchdowns, finishing with 69 yards on 27 carries. Rome Odunze led Chicago with 87 receiving yards; Colston Loveland added 65, and Luther Burden III had 56.

The defense limited Seattle to 252 total yards and one conversion in 11 third-down attempts, while recording three sacks.

A win over the defending champions

This was a road victory over the defending Super Bowl champions. Seattle fell to 4–4, and its own postgame assessment highlighted problems across offense, defense and special teams. Touchdowns from Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Cooper Kupp provided flashes, but the Seahawks could not consistently sustain their attack.

MMTV analysis: The most useful takeaway for Chicago is the response to adversity. A late surge by the home team can turn a road game quickly. The Bears recovered control instead of allowing the momentum swing to determine the outcome. That is encouraging, even though one performance cannot settle the larger questions about a season.

NFC North standings: where Chicago sits now

The Bears are second in the division as of November 3. Minnesota remains first by winning percentage, while Detroit and Green Bay keep the race tight.

Place Team Record Win percentage Division record
1 Minnesota Vikings 6–1 .857 2–1
2 Chicago Bears 6–2 .750 0–2
3 Detroit Lions 5–2 .714 2–0
4 Green Bay Packers 5–3 .625 1–2

Teams have played different numbers of games, so win percentage matters when reading the table. Chicago’s overall record is strong, but its 0–2 divisional record is a concern. The Bears have scored 214 points and allowed 160, a plus-54 differential.

MMTV analysis: There is room for optimism without treating the division as decided. Every NFC North team currently has a winning record, and Chicago still has work to do against its closest rivals.

Jeffery Simmons is the major new development

Chicago’s biggest recent roster move was the October 29 acquisition of defensive lineman Jeffery Simmons from Tennessee. The price was substantial: first-round picks in 2027 and 2028, plus a 2027 fourth-round pick. The Bears also received a 2028 fifth-rounder.

Simmons arrived as a three-time AP All-Pro selection. His 2025 season included 11 sacks and 17 tackles for loss, both leading NFL interior defensive linemen.

MMTV analysis: Spending that much draft capital signals a willingness to invest heavily in the current roster. Pressure through the middle can disrupt a quarterback before a passing play fully develops, while stronger interior play can also help against the run. The trade’s long-term value will require more than one game to assess.

Simmons made an immediate contribution in Seattle, recording a sack and six tackles. His first outing gave Chicago an early return on that investment, rather than merely a promising name on the roster.

What else is happening with the roster?

The Simmons trade is not the only change. Chicago placed tight end Cole Kmet on injured reserve October 23 and signed running back Zavier Scott to the active roster October 27. The team also elevated tight end Stephen Carlson for Monday’s game. Montez Sweat’s suspension was lifted October 23.

The injury picture needs careful dating. The official report for the Seattle game listed running back Kyle Monangai out with thumb/toe injuries and defensive back Malik Muhammad questionable with a toe injury. Those were designations for Seattle, not confirmed statuses for Tampa Bay.

MMTV analysis: Depth remains part of the story, particularly with a short turnaround from Monday night to Sunday night. Updated practice reports will provide a clearer view of availability for the Buccaneers game.

What fans should watch next

MMTV analysis: Three questions frame the next stretch: can Chicago carry Monday’s composure into another prime-time game, can Simmons keep improving the defensive front, and can the Bears turn a strong overall record into better results within the NFC North?

Seattle provided a persuasive performance. Tampa Bay offers the next test, with the bye week waiting on the other side and the division race leaving little room to relax.
