One of Chicago’s most unique summer traditions is back this weekend as the World Naked Bike Ride returns to the city.
According to the official Chicago Naked Ride website, this year’s ride is scheduled for Saturday, July 11, 2026. Participants will gather in the evening, and the ride is expected to start around 8:00 p.m. Riders are invited to participate “bare as you dare,” although many choose body paint, costumes, or minimal clothing instead of riding completely nude.
What is the purpose of the ride?
The World Naked Bike Ride is a global movement that promotes cyclist safety, sustainable transportation, body positivity, self-expression, and a cleaner environment.
Organizers describe the event as a celebration of freedom from oil and the beauty of people.
Will the route be released?
As in previous years, the exact route will not be announced until shortly before the ride begins. Keeping the route a surprise helps reduce large crowds of spectators and allows participants to enjoy the event more safely.
What should Chicago residents know?
Drivers and commuters should expect temporary street closures and traffic delays in various parts of Chicago on Saturday evening. If you are traveling downtown or through nearby neighborhoods, plan ahead and allow extra time.
Love it or not, the World Naked Bike Ride has become one of the most talked-about summer events in Chicago and continues to bring people together from across the region.
